Roles and responsibilities for a Senior Accountant in a restaurant:
1. Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements,
balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Provide accurate and timely financial information to management for
decision-making.
Monitor and report on key financial performance indicators.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Develop and manage the restaurant annual budget.
• Collaborate with department heads to gather budget inputs and provide
financial guidance.
• Monitor actual financial performance against budget and provide variance
analysis.
3. Accounting Operations:
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable,
accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
4. Compliance and Taxation:
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Work with external auditors during annual audits.
• Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws.
5. Financial Analysis:
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential
risks.
• Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial
analysis.
• Support strategic decision-making through financial modeling and scenario
analysis.
6. Cost Control:
• Monitor and analyze costs related to food, labor, and overhead.
• Implement cost control measures to optimize profitability.
• Identify areas for cost savings without compromising quality.
7. Cash Management:
• Manage cash flow to ensure the availability of funds for operational needs.
• Optimize working capital by monitoring receivables and payables.

• Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard assets and
ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Regularly review and update accounting policies and procedures.
9. Technology and Systems:
• Leverage accounting software and other technological tools to streamline
financial processes.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements in accounting and finance.
10. Team Management and Development:
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
• Conduct training sessions to enhance the team skills and knowledge.
11. Communication and Collaboration:
• Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and marketing, to
understand their financial needs and provide support.
• Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
