Description:
The AV Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for audio-visual projects, including corporate AV installations, home theater systems, event setups, and more. This individual will review project specifications, consult with sales and technical teams, and use industry knowledge to provide precise pricing for equipment, labor, and other costs involved in the project. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of AV systems are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Preparation:
- Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to determine the scope of work.
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to gather relevant project information.
- Prepare detailed estimates for AV equipment, materials, labor, and other associated costs (e.g., installation, testing, and programming).
- Use software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or estimating software) to create and document estimates.
- Ensure estimates align with project budgets, timelines, and client expectations.
- Vendor & Supplier Communication:
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best pricing for AV equipment.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate pricing, when necessary.
- Analyze product specifications and provide accurate pricing alternatives based on client needs.
- Bid Coordination:
- Develop and submit bids or proposals in response to requests for proposals (RFPs) or client inquiries.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure estimates are comprehensive and competitive.
- Present estimates and bids to stakeholders and address any questions or concerns.
- Project Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference.
- Regularly update pricing databases to reflect the latest costs of materials, labor, and equipment.
- Track project changes and revise estimates accordingly, ensuring that all cost adjustments are accounted for.
- Cost Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze past projects to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
- Prepare cost reports and track project expenses to ensure that projects remain within budget.
- Provide feedback to project management and sales teams on cost control measures and project profitability.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with design, sales, and installation teams to ensure that estimates align with technical requirements.
- Act as a liaison between clients, project managers, and vendors to resolve any issues related to project estimates.
- Provide technical expertise during the project planning and design phases, ensuring the chosen AV solutions meet client needs.
