Cargo Supervisor

Description:

The Supervisor (Cargo) oversees cargo handling operations to ensure the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established handling standards are followed. He/She monitors the development of cargo load plans and organises warehouse operations.

Cargo Supervisor Job Responsibilities

Cargo loading and unloading

Overseeing the process of loading, unloading, and securing cargo. This includes checking that items are labeled correctly, especially for dangerous or fragile goods.

Inventory management

Monitoring and replenishing stock, and keeping accurate records.

Safety and security

Ensuring safety and security standards are followed, and conducting safety and security checks. This includes ensuring workers have access to personal protective equipment (PPE) and are up to date with safety training.

Staff management

Managing staff conflicts and complaints, and providing coaching and feedback to improve team performance.

Hazardous materials

Supervising the handling of hazardous materials or goods, and preparing schedules and assigning tasks to team members for hazardous materials incidents.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Auditing air cargo operations to ensure SOPs are followed, and notifying authorities when SOPs are not followed.

Communication

Passing on shipping requirements for different types of cargoes to team members and customers.
