Our client is a leading organization with a diverse fleet of over 50 vessels, including tankers of various tonnages. With an approach that sets industry standards in safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance, they are constantly in pursuit of innovation and excellence.
To maintain and advance their leading position in the maritime sector, our client is in search of a dynamic and visionary Chief Technical Officer (CTO) who will take on the strategic management of technical operations. This vital role will be responsible for ensuring the fleet's technical operations are managed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental standards, and will lead the development of the company's technical management strategies.
We would like to remind you that this role is a technical role, not an Information Technology role.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in the maritime sector, particularly in tanker management and operations, demonstrating deep expertise in this area. This critical position aims to strengthen the company's position in both global and local markets, seeking a leader who values diversity and inclusivity and can work harmoniously with teams from different cultures and disciplines.
- Responsible for all operations related to Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) and Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Accountable for the safe and efficient performance of Marine and Technical Operations
- Compliance with all codes, guidelines and standards of National and International Laws, and Mandated Territorial Laws of respective Flag State Administrations among the Company’s Fleet
- Analyse and determine budgets
- Ensuring committed targets and objectives are met
- Approve the Company’s Internal Audit Plan
- Constantly find ways to improve the Company's Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQE) Objectives
- Liaise with the Company’s Technical Manager & Fleet Managers to produce and develop New-Build projects and liaise with Company’s Technical Manager for planning of respective vessels' Dry-Dock Evaluations
- Collaborate with Company’s Board of Directors, for Company growth and development i.e.: creating new job areas
- Work to increase the Company's efficiency and productivity; ensuring all Departments work in harmony
- Lead the Company Emergency Response Team (ERT)
- Be accountable for achieving his/her own objectives
- Monitor and promote safe & correct working conditions on board and in the office
- Systematically monitor the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities within the company
- Promoting and communicating the concept of HSSQEEn excellence throughout the Company’s organization by monitoring, motivating and encouraging all Company’s personnel for their active participation in the implementation of the Company’s Policy and the SMS
- Review the mission statements, high-level policies, KPI’s, objectives and targets, incidents and deficiencies throughout the fleet and company
- Develop and improve company procedures when necessary
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in senior executive and leadership
- roles within reputable ship management or ship owning companies.
- Previous sailing experience as Chief Engineer on board tankers/gas carriers is a must.
- Expert negotiator highly proficient in reconciling conflicting views of diverse stakeholders
- from different cultural and industry backgrounds. Ability to build rapport and facilitate the
- smooth exchange of information across borders and under high tension.
- English is a must; Turkish or Russian is preferable
- Post-graduate degree from reputable universities in marine engineering, marine mechanical
- engineering, and other related degrees is preferable.
