Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Arabic speaking Psychiatrist in Abu Dhabi. The applicant will be responsible for;
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments through interviews, observations, and standardized tests.
- Gather medical histories, including family history of mental health issues, and assess the psychological state of patients.
- Diagnose mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorders.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient diagnosis, needs, and personal preferences.
- Recommend and administer psychiatric medications, such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers.
- Provide psychotherapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychoanalysis, or other therapeutic methods).
- Prescribe and monitor the effects of medications to ensure patients are receiving appropriate care.
- Adjust prescriptions or explore alternative treatments if necessary.
- Educate patients about the benefits, side effects, and risks of prescribed medications.
- Collaboration and Referral:
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and general physicians, to create holistic treatment plans.
- Make referrals to other specialists or facilities, such as inpatient care, when needed.
- Patient Education and Support:
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
- Provide emotional support to patients and help them develop coping mechanisms for dealing with mental health issues.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide urgent care in situations such as suicidal ideation or psychiatric breakdowns.
- Help develop and implement safety plans for patients at risk of harming themselves or others.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential patient records in compliance with medical regulations and legal standards.
- Document treatment progress, medication adjustments, and other relevant clinical information.
Qualifications:
- Education: Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with a completed psychiatric residency program.
- Licensing: Valid DOH license and board certification in psychiatry.
