Description:
This role involves working with selected reinsurance brokers and direct cedants to optimise profitable growth within the RSA DIFC C&E Dept. You will apply a range of underwriting, relationship management and business development techniques to optimise sustainable profitable business growth. This applies to new and/or existing cases within our agreed process and defined risk appetite.
- Review allocated cases and delivering underwriting decisions within agreed timeframes, to secure profitable business within authority level and risk appetite
- Support the Head of C&E with the underwriting of complex risks, customer relations & development
- Contribute to the development plans which identify existing and regular flow of new business opportunities
- Access and apply all appropriate sources of information and insight to best satisfy the needs of their selected brokers and clients
- Clearly and positively articulate our proposition and risk appetite
- Maximise profitable business growth through:
- Reviewing allocated existing business and/or seeking out and following up on new business cases
- Effectively negotiating and delivering underwriting decisions through following agreed processes at designated authority levels
- Promptly identify and escalating those non-standard, large and/or complex cases to more qualified colleagues and work with them to deliver an outstanding service to the broker/client
- Provide guidance and coaching to less qualified/experienced colleagues where appropriate
- May be required to conduct peer review processes as required to support and enable the maintenance of an effective control environment
- Contributing to the implementation of marketing activities, business development initiatives, etc.
About You:
- Preferably holding a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science
- Underwriting experience
- Knowledge of the Middle East C&E Insurance market
- Effective broker account development and management
- Being able to negotiate flexibly and appropriately
- Risk perception/Identification and evaluation of risk
- Pricing software understanding
