Curator

 

Description:

The curator will be involved in various tasks, including looking at proposing and adding new pieces to the collection via the Curatorial Committee, cataloging and documenting existing items, conducting research to enhance knowledge and understanding of the collection, and co-curating physical exhibitions or displays that showcase specic themes, artists, or historical periods (both physical and online), and capsuling digital exhibitions.

 

The curator will communicate with other art and industry professionals such as educators, international institutions and other stakeholders, to advocate for and promote the collection, foster partnerships and create informative content that engages audiences. The curator will also play a role in developing educational programs, organizing lectures or workshops, and contributing to scholarly publications to promote the cultural and educational value of the Dubai Collection.

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Relevant experience in the UAE, Gulf region preferable
  • Curatorial experience with a focus on non-Western geographies and discourses
  • Experience with museum databases and other applications
  • Comprehensive understanding of collection management
  • Eye for detail and strong design instincts
  • Exceptional research, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or with other team members to achieve objectives
