Description:
Endoscopy Technician clinical work includes the below:
- Assist in preparing patients for the endoscopy procedure
- Monitor patient’s vital signs during endoscopy procedures
- Monitor patient’s sedation level during endoscopy procedures
- Assist endoscopist in diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional endoscopic procedures that may involves but is not limited to:
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
- Endoscopic obesity procedures
- Endoscopic management of Acute GI Bleed
- Placing plastic and metal endoprosthesis (metal stents)
- Dilatation of benign and malignant strictures using endoscopy
- Interventional procedures by using Endoscopic Ultrasound
- GI Motility procedures
- Small bowel endoscopy procedures
- Collect samples/specimens from endoscopies and send them to the laboratory for analysis
- Prepare and maintains all equipment and instrumentation required to provide quality endoscopy services in a GI Endoscopy setting
- Identify the equipment set-up and/or supplies, be ready for what might be needed, during emergency situations as directed by the physician and/or registered nurse
- Maintain checklist for endoscopy accessories and its expiry
- Clean, disinfect, and calibrate scopes and other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards.
