Engineering Manager

 

Description:

Our client Design & Build Contractor based in Dubai is looking for an Engineering Manager to join their team.

 

As the Engineering Manager you will be responsible of monitoring

design, supervision during construction to ensure best practice design and project delivery on time and to cost.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To provide layouts, general arrangements, and detailed technical drawings on AutoCAD

in accordance with project specifications.

• Supervise the Draftsman team by managing their time and by cross-checking all

drawings to ensure it is up to standard.

• Support the Project Managers with accurate drawings from design to production, until

project Handing over.

• Prepare BOQ for the approved drawings for the procurement and Project Managers.

• Prepare and periodically revise projects timeline.

• Develop working templates for establishing and tracking project Civil, Structural & Fitout

requirements, technical specifications, cost estimations and appointment of

contractors.

• Work with the Project Manager to establish key performance indicators for critical Civil,

Structural & Fitout parameters on the project.

• Develop systems for reporting to monitor and track Civil, Structural & Fitout technical

issues.

• Review the supervision consultant’s procedures for quality checks and site inspections

for Civil, Structural & Fitout and monitor processes to address all Civil, Structural & Fitout

site related issues.

• Serve as the Civil, Structural & Fitout expert in the PM team for all matters related to

design, quality assurance and documentation of structural works.

• Acquire a detailed understanding of contract documents (drawings and specifications),

phasing plans, Civil, Structural & Fitout systems interrelationships, construction

sequencing, and project schedules to advise the project manager as necessary.

• Assist in the development and review of Civil, Structural & Fitout systems for the project.

• Manage the supervision consultant to approve the contractor’s as-built drawings,

submittals and record in log sheet Civil, Structural & Fitout changes and as-built

information.

• Define scope, budget, and justification of Civil, Structural & Fitout change work orders.

• Monitor design consultants and the Civil, Structural & Fitout supervision consultants

regarding approvals and liaise with local authorities and ministerial agencies as

necessary.

• Assist project team in negotiations with contractors regarding the value of claims or

changes in schedules and prepare recommendations on claims - approval or rejection.

• Assist in development of RFPs/Tenders by QPM as part of the procurement process.

• Coordinate with the Project Manager, Construction Manager (onsite) to collate and

analyze periodic reports to help understand project performance against Civil,

Structural & Fitout standards and drive remedial actions.

• Oversee and advise on the estimates prepared by the QS/Cost Control relating to Civil,

Structural & Fitout works and collate and analyze periodic cost reports to monitor cost

performance.

• Coordinate with QA to monitor compliance by the Civil, Structural & Fitout consultants

and contractors with management plans.

• Makes necessary time calculation for drawings development and ensure deadlines are

met.

• Liaise with suppliers to make sure requirements are met.

• Solve execution problems and have logbook to work on the improvement for the

upcoming projects.

• Continuously look for and suggest ways to improve the process internally.

• Coordinate with project consultant for all Authority submissions.

• Making sure all drawings are matching between Authority, Design & structure shop

drawings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering

• Work experience in the Construction company as a Technical Manager, or a similar role.

• UAE Driving License will be an advantage
