Are you an avid maker with a background in fashion and accessory design? MAKE is seeking to employ a dynamic, imaginative, experimental, and motivated maker for the role of Fashion and Accessory Design Consultant.
As a Fashion and Accessory Design Consultant, you will play a crucial role in providing expert advice, guidance, and support to our community of makers, creators, artists and enthusiasts working with textiles. Your deep knowledge of fashion design concepts, sewing and fashion trends will empower our members to explore their creativity and achieve exceptional results in their fashion and tailoring related projects.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of fashion design concepts, including fashion history, apparel construction, pattern making, and textiles.
- Proficiency in fashion drawing, sewing techniques, and fashion trend analysis.
- Capability to operate and teach the use of the following machinery: Domestic Sewing Machine, Industrial Overlocker, Industrial Walking Foot, CNC Embroiderer, Others.
- Experience in developing and delivering educational design programs/lesson plans and assessing participants’ work effectively.
- Familiarity with various traditional crafts (crochet, knitting, hand embroidery, quilting).
- Familiarity with fashion industry trends, fabrics, colors, and shapes.
- Familiarity with fashion industry software for pattern drafting and garment simulation.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons covering fashion design, fashion history, apparel construction, pattern making, hand and machine sewing techniques, and fashion trends, as well as fashion visualization, presentation, marketing, and promotion.
- Support in the development of Project Base Workshops tailored for different skill levels, such as workshops in dress making, pjs, tops, or fashion accessories.
- Support in the development of fashion and fashion accessories workshops.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in fashion technology and incorporate them into teaching.
- Teach the usage of CAD software for fashion design and pattern making.
- Evaluate and critique participants’ work to provide constructive feedback and guidance.
- Collaborate with other disciplines, such as ceramics, metalwork, or digital fabrication, to explore cross-disciplinary projects and foster a creative environment.
- Assist members in the development of their fashion and accessories design and making.
