Description:
We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our legal team. Reporting directly to the Chief Corporate Officer, this role will provide strategic guidance and advice on a variety of legal matters while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate should have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be comfortable with complex legal issues. This position is ideal for someone looking to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced working environment.
Responsibilities
- Advise executive leadership and other departments on legal risks and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Research and provide counsel on legal matters involving contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, and litigation.
- Review, draft, negotiate, and revise various agreements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance and risk management.
- Represent the company during legal proceedings and act as liaison with external parties (attorneys and government agencies).
- Stay current on constantly changing laws, regulations, and interpretations and offer guidance and interpretation.
- Provide direction and training to internal staff to ensure legal compliance.
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- At least five years of experience in a similar position
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret complex laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to think strategically and solve problems.
