As the HSE Operational Director, this role oversees the coordination of risk management and compliance throughout the organization, ensuring strict adherence to internal HSE management systems. It is pivotal in fostering a proactive approach to risk management across all attractions, facilitating centralized alignment. This role is instrumental in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for guests, colleagues, and contractors.
Key responsibilities include providing HSE guidance during new project development to ensure alignment with internal MX HSE standards, global industry benchmarks, and external regulatory mandates. Collaboration with park management teams is essential to embed HSE considerations into all operational facets. Moreover, cultivating a safety-centric culture within the park, encouraging employee engagement, and advocating for safe work practices are crucial aspects.
Remaining abreast of industry best practices and regulatory updates in theme park management is imperative, necessitating participation in safety committees such as MENALAC. This position spearheads incident response and escalation procedures, overseeing incident review committees and ensuring stakeholder involvement.
The role entails reviewing audit and inspection outcomes, effectively communicating findings, and implementing necessary actions across affected areas. Providing data-driven corrective actions and comprehensive reports to senior leadership ensuring alignment on top priorities.
Leading and directing HSE teams across leisure facilities, this position establishes departmental guidelines and fosters the professional growth of team members through coaching and development initiatives. This role works closely with the HSE Strategic Director.
Full Job Scope:
- Leads the implementation of all standards and governance of HSE processes and procedures across all park operations.
- Consults on new projects in the design and construction phase to ensure all aspects of HSE are being considered and prioritized.
- Overseeing corrective action implementation resulting from internal and external audits and inspection.
- Direct, formulate, develop and monitor the implementation of Operational HSE policies, systems, procedures and standards for existing activities and new processes to ensure effective and proactive risk management.
- Lead HSE teams across all facilities to ensure consistency, development and harmonization of HSE standards within Miral Experiences.
- Overseeing the reporting, investigation, recording and analysis of injury accidents, dangerous occurrences, health, safety and environmental incidents and work-related ill health. Ensuring that investigation outcomes are communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Tasked with initiating the incident review committee as necessary and presiding over all committee sessions to guarantee a cohesive strategy towards operational safety matters.
- Craft and execute budget-conscious safety management and accident prevention strategies aimed at mitigating both direct and indirect costs stemming from work-related accidents and illnesses involving guests, colleagues, and contractors.
- Champion the cultivation of an unwavering safety culture by ensuring the thorough communication and steadfast implementation of the group's health and safety policies.
- Furnish the Senior Leadership team with comprehensive advice and routine status reports concerning operational HSE matters, along with thorough performance evaluations. Offer expert guidance to Senior Leadership regarding overarching corporate risk management strategies.
- Establish and execute a structured change management system to monitor and effectively communicate guidance to Heads of Departments regarding anticipated changes in operational HSE management.
- Collaborate closely with the HSE Strategic Director to align operational initiatives with overarching strategic goals, ensuring seamless integration and effective execution of health, safety, and environmental objectives across all facets of the organization.
Job Essentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
- 10+ years of HSE experience
- 5+ years of theme park experience.
