This senior leadership role spearheads the development and implementation of a comprehensive HSE management system across Miral parks and facilities focusing on competency and compliance. Leading and guiding a dynamic team, fostering a positive safety culture while ensuring unwavering adherence to industry regulations and best practices. Proactive initiatives will drive continuous improvement, solidifying Miral’s position as a world leader in safe and responsible theme park operations.
This position leads the implementation and management of all compliance, competency and industry related safety standards and programs to ensure working practices are safe across the business by managing and implementing the departments ISO 45001 HSE Management system through a proactive HSE strategy. Additionally, the role requires the coordination of third party and external audits.
The role requires promptly reporting all safety-related compliance matters to the Senior Director of HSSE and relevant stakeholders, overseeing the meticulous documentation of incidents and investigations, and ensuring the implementation of corrective actions.
This position entails leading and directing the shared services HSE team with proactive strategic guidance, facilitating the development and implementation of the HSE management system organization-wide, and fostering the professional growth of team members.
This position collaborates closely with the Health Safety and Environment Operations Director.
Full Job Scope:
Develop and implement the HSE departmental, training and communication strategy in conjunction with the Senior Director of HSSE and the HSE Operations Director.
Oversee the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive HSE programs. This includes permit to work systems, audit and inspection programs, ISO 45001 maintenance, food safety protocols, and HSE training initiatives. Establish and maintain procedures for the reporting, investigation, recording and analysis of injury accidents, dangerous occurrences, health, safety and environmental incidents and work related ill health.
Direct, formulate, develop and monitor the implementation of health, safety and environmental policies, systems, procedures and standards for existing activities and new processes to ensure effective and proactive risk management in relation to HSE are in place.
Guarantee compliance with pertinent industry standards and regulations, encompassing EN standards or equivalent benchmarks, across various domains such as rides, attractions, food safety, and other HSE facets. Oversee ISO 45001 accreditation and coordinate external audits as required
Oversees the management of the HSE auditing program of all rides and attractions, food safety, escalating any non compliances to the leadership team within an agreed governance framework.
Oversee competency and development programs to ensure all staff possess the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively execute HSE strategies and adhere to safety protocols.
Lead the compliance HSE team to ensure consistency, development, and harmonization of safety standards across the parks.
Craft and execute budget-conscious safety management and accident prevention strategies aimed at mitigating both direct and indirect costs stemming from work-related accidents and illnesses involving guests, colleagues, and contractors
Ensure that effective safety and environmental planning includes realistic short and long term objectives. Where applicable, a cost benefit analysis approach should be used to determine priorities and establish performance standards.
Providing strategic direction and guidance to the HSE team and setting departmental guidelines for safe operation and compliance.
Conduct benchmarking with other theme parks to compare HSE practices and performance metrics.
Coaching and developing team members to enhance their HSE skills and knowledge
Establish and execute a structured change management system to monitor and effectively communicate guidance to Heads of Departments regarding anticipated changes in operational HSE management.
Collaborate closely with the HSE Operations Director to align operational initiatives with overarching strategic goals, ensuring seamless integration and effective execution of health, safety, and environmental objectives across all facets of the organization
Job Essentials:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
Lead Auditor in ISO 18001 / 45001
10+ years of HSE experience
5+ years of theme park experience.
5+ years Auditing HSE systems experience
Proven Leadership role within HSE
Development of HSE policies and procedures and the implementation of systems
Incident investigation
Data and trend analysis for measurement of HSE performance
Proficiency in conducting assessments and inspections
Proficiency in strategic planning and execution
Ability to provide guidance and support for professional development
organizational change processes related to HSE initiatives effectively.
