Junior Estimation Engineer

Description:

As an Estimator for our Fitout Company, you will play a crucial role in our project planning and cost estimation process. You will be responsible for accurately assessing the costs associated with fitout projects, ensuring that our bids are competitive while maintaining profitability. Here's what your responsibilities will entail:

  • Project Evaluation: You will thoroughly review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and materials required for each fitout project.
  • Cost Estimation: Using your expertise and knowledge of construction materials, labor costs, and industry standards, you will prepare detailed cost estimates for each project. This includes estimating quantities, sourcing material prices, and calculating labor costs.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Management: You will liaise with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services required for each project. Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers will be essential for negotiating favorable terms.
  • Budget Management: Working closely with project managers and other stakeholders, you will develop project budgets based on your cost estimates. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will monitor expenses to ensure that costs remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Bid Preparation: You will prepare comprehensive bid proposals that outline the scope of work, cost breakdown, and project timeline. Your goal is to submit competitive bids that accurately reflect the costs involved while aligning with the client's budget and expectations.
  • Value Engineering: Identifying opportunities for value engineering to optimize costs without compromising quality or functionality will be part of your role. You will collaborate with the design and engineering teams to explore alternative materials and construction methods that offer cost savings.
  • Risk Assessment: Assessing potential risks and contingencies associated with each project is crucial. You will identify factors that could impact costs, such as regulatory requirements, site conditions, and supply chain disruptions, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of cost estimates, bids, and project-related documents is essential. You will generate reports and presentations to communicate cost projections, variance analysis, and other relevant information to internal stakeholders and clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
