This hire will lead the establishment of their data infrastructure from the ground up, enabling them to harness the power of data to fuel their growth and success.
As the Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and managing their data infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, develop scalable solutions, and ensure data reliability, integrity, and security. This is a hands-on role that requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills
What will you be doing?
- Lead the design and implementation of their data infrastructure, including data pipelines, storage solutions, and data warehousing systems.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ingest and process data from various sources.
- Establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to integrate data-driven insights into their products and services.
- Drive the adoption of best practices for data engineering, including code quality, documentation, and testing.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the data engineering function.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, evaluating their potential impact on our infrastructure and processes.
- Drive innovation through advanced data methods.
What key skills will you bring to the team?
- Demonstrable experience in complex data engineering roles, with a proven track record of designing and implementing data infrastructure solutions.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in building scalable data pipelines using frameworks like Apache Spark or Apache Flink.
- Deep understanding of distributed computing concepts, cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery), and streaming data processing technologies (e.g., Kafka, Apache Beam).
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles and database design patterns.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
