Description:
The Marine Navigation and Communication Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of navigation and communication systems aboard our marine vessels. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced navigation and communication technologies to ensure the safety and efficiency of our maritime operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design, develop, and maintain navigation systems for marine vessels, including GPS, radar, sonar, and electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS).
- Implement communication systems for maritime applications, encompassing VHF, HF, satellite communication, and AIS (Automatic Identification System).
- Collaborate with vessel design and engineering teams to integrate navigation and communication solutions into new builds and retrofit projects.
- Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of navigation and communication equipment on board.
- Conduct sea trials and tests to verify the performance and accuracy of navigation and communication systems.
- Stay current with international maritime regulations and standards related to navigation and communication equipment.
- Provide technical support to vessel crews for navigation and communication system operation and maintenance.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Participate in maritime regulatory audits and inspections as a subject matter expert in navigation and communication systems.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing, installing, and maintaining navigation and communication systems on marine vessels.
- In-depth knowledge of marine navigation technologies, including GPS, radar, ECDIS, and AIS.
- Familiarity with maritime communication protocols, satellite communication systems, and radio frequency (RF) equipment.
- Experience with marine software applications used in navigation and communication systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with vessel crews, engineers, and regulatory bodies.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to adhering to maritime regulations and safety standards.
