Description:
Our Navigation teams offshore ensure accurate positioning of all towed seismic sensors operation, both vast multisensor GeoStreamer configuration for oil and gas and carbon storage, and our smaller ultra high-resolution operations for offshore wind farms.
As a Navigator / Surveyor, you should be a practical team player. You will be responsible for reliable positioning of all towed equipment involved in the survey, and the correct operation, maintenance and repair of all navigation-related hardware and software. You will manage and integrate a team with varied skillsets and backgrounds, prioritizing health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ).
Applicants that have not previously worked in seismic will be considered, if they possess other relevant experience and education.
Main Tasks
- Configure and operate our seismic navigation software for the successful acquisition of 2D, 3D and 4D marine seismic surveys according to project plans and client specifications.
- Assist in installation, operation and maintenance of all positioning equipment and systems to comply with PGS best practices and client specifications.
- Maintain consistent logs, participate in planning, mobilization, execution, monitoring and demobilization in all positioning aspects of survey operations.
Required qualifications
- Basic knowledge of back-deck operations & procedures
- Basic navigation skills (geodesy, navigation and navigation processing/analysis).
- Good understanding and familiarity with navigation software processing, Linux programming experience is preferable.
- Good understanding of DGNSS, RGNSS and Acoustic Ranging Systems.
- Operational knowledge of hydrographic sensors including multibeam side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profilers, including configuration and maintenance.
- Basic understanding of seismic acquisition equipment.
- Basic knowledge of HSEQ requirements and ability to understand and comply with PGS HSE policies and procedures.
- Good English, both oral and written.

Preferred qualifications
- BSc / MSc Geodesy, Earth Science, Computer Science, Physics, Electronics or related field
- Electronics, hydrographic surveying/geomatics or similar
- Prior professional experience can replace formal education
- Familiarity with hydrographic software packages like CAIS, HIPS and SIPS, PDS, Qinsy, Qimera
