Description:

Occupational Therapist position in a specialist multidisciplinary team in a clinic committed to offering patient centred, evidence based and compassionate care to international standards.

The role is primarily clinical and requires experience working in any/all of the following:

  • Early Intervention, Developmental Delays and Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Visual/auditory impairment, genetic syndromes (Trisomy 9, Trisomy 21, Pradder Willi Syndrome, neuropathologies (cerebral palsy, dyspraxia)
  • Fine motor and gross motor skills
  • Sensory integration difficulties
  • Learning difficulties
  • School readiness skills and classroom adaptation

The post holder will:

  • Conduct comprehensive specialist occupational and early intervention assessments
  • Analyze, write reports, communicate assessment results and therapy progress to parents, teachers
  • Manage a caseload of clients with highly complex needs, using evidence-based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • Work with clients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of an overall care plan.
  • Participate in team meetings and work closely with other specialists’ meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
  • Provide specialist OT advice within the interdisciplinary and interagency teams and to co-ordinate multidisciplinary procedures when required within service.
  • Provide support and advice to families.
  • Demonstrate advanced level skills in group facilitation and the use of creative therapeutic interventions.

Qualification/Criteria:

  • Relevant Educational degrees (BSc., MSc, and/or PhD)
  • Certification in sensory integration would be an added advantage
  • Professional/Board Certifications as applicable
  • DHA License or meets licensure requirements
  • Flexibility to work at least one day of the weekend and provide school services
  • Bi-lingual (English and Arabic) or Tri-lingual (English, Arabic and French) would be an advantage

The post holder reports directly to and works closely with the Head of Occupational Therapy.

This service is best suited for professionals who enjoy team working and striving to continuously improve their skills and experience to offer the best possible care to their patients. The successful candidate will need to show evidence of patient-centered care and the ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing motivation and guidance as well as being committed to continuous professional development. Regular trainings and continued professional development are in built in the working of the service.
