Description:
As a Procurement Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our organization by managing the procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services required for our projects. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to identify procurement needs, select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Identification: Identify and assess potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, and maintain a qualified suppliers list.
Sourcing and Negotiation: Source materials, equipment, and services from suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure favorable terms and conditions.
Cost Management: Monitor and control procurement costs, analyze price trends, and implement cost-saving strategies.
Freight Cost Management: Negotiate favorable freight rates with carriers and logistics providers to minimize transportation costs and improve cost-efficiency.
Customs Compliance: Ensure all international shipments comply with customs regulations, including documentation, duties, and taxes. Work with customs brokers and agencies as needed.
Quality Assurance: Ensure purchased materials and equipment meet quality standards and specifications.
Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production and project requirements while minimizing carrying costs.
Vendor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, resolving issues and discrepancies promptly.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and improve logistics and shipping processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in procurement activities.
Documentation: Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
- Familiarity with international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management.
- Experience in managing third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
- Strong analytical skills for optimizing shipping routes and modes.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CIPS) is a plus.
