Description:
This is a full-time on-site role for a Product Creative Industrial Designer at Riga'a Handcraft. The designer will be responsible for tasks related to industrial design, product design, prototyping, design thinking, and product development. The role involves creating innovative and visually appealing products that blend traditional Emirati with mixed cultures craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. You will work under the CEO, implementing the approved designs, with a variety of traditional and contemporary materials and techniques which creates artisanal items that are both aesthetically appealing and functional. The designs should celebrate craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and sustainability, while also being market-ready for retail or bespoke projects for companies.
- Concept Development: Brainstorming, researching, and developing new product ideas that align with market trends, cultural significance, and customer needs in the handicraft industry.
- Hand & Technical Drawings: Create detailed technical drawings and specifications, approved by the CEO for use by artisans and manufacturers.
- Design Creation: Story telling, sketching, prototype, and finalizing design concepts for various handcrafted products (e.g., home décor, homeware, corporate gifts, furniture, artisanal crafts etc.).
- Material Sourcing: Research suppliers to source eco-friendly and sustainable materials that complement the designs and meet quality standards.
- Prototyping: Develop prototypes and sample products, adjusting designs based on functionality, aesthetics, and cost-efficiency.
- Product Engineering & Manufacturing: Develop solutions and bring the product concept to life.
- Quality Control: Oversee the production process to ensure that finished products meet the company’s quality standards and maintain the integrity of the original design.
- Trend Analysis: Stay updated on design trends, consumer preferences, and the handicraft industry's competitive landscape.
- Sustainability Focus: Incorporate sustainable practices and materials into the design process, ensuring that products are eco-friendly and socially responsible.
- Marketing and Branding Support: Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create product descriptions, branding materials, and packaging designs.
