Description:
The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applicants for a post graduate hire in the area of experimental astro-particle physics and applications.
The applicant will work in the domain of particle and radiation detectors (organic and inorganic scintillators, photomultipliers and silicon photomultipliers, silicon drift detectors etc.) applied to various domains: dark matter search with noble liquids and dielectric haloscopes, gamma ray spectroscopy, and cultural heritage. The applicant may be involved in several projects, in the framework of an extremely dynamic and stimulating research group. It is expected that the applicant will also help in the general management of the laboratory and its equipment.
Previous members of this group are now pursuing research and academic careers internationally.
Applicants must have a Bachelors in Physics. Knowledge and experience of design and development of particle detectors, especially aimed to cosmic rays detection, is required, as well as enthusiasm to learn new techniques and to work and interact with a very diverse environment. Experience and interest in applying radiation detection techniques in non-standard domains (cultural heritage, environment, medical) is preferred.
The terms of employment are competitive and will include housing and travel subsidies. Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcript of degree, and at least one letter of recommendation, all in PDF format.
