Description:
We are seeking to engage the services of a VAT Expert to oversee and assist our client, one of the biggest corporations in the area, with managing VAT-related issues. Our client is located in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently contribute to and implement improvement projects within the VAT function.
- Ensure strict adherence to established processes, guidelines, and protocols for all VAT reporting and preparation activities, maintaining the highest standards.
- Collaborate with VAT consultants to gather insights and recommendations for the preparation of VAT returns, including handling VAT treatment exceptions.
- Accurately calculate and prepare VAT reports, maintaining precise records of calculations and estimations related to purchases based on transactions within the verticals.
- Prepare the VAT return and allocate common costs, ensuring submission of the tax return report and obtaining sign-off on the VAT return checklist from relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor and ensure timely filing of VAT returns, maintaining compliance with all deadlines.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators, identifying operational gaps, and proposing mitigation strategies to the VAT Manager for addressing challenges.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes related to VAT and incorporate necessary adjustments into VAT functional processes.
- Thoroughly review all VAT-related transactions, ensuring they align with established processes and policies.
- Stay informed about applicable VAT regulations across various entities and make necessary adjustments to existing VAT processes and policies under the guidance of the reporting manager.
- Conduct reconciliation activities for VAT payable and receivable accounts.
- Prepare and transmit the monthly VAT settlement entry to verticals for month-end posting activities.
- Provide support in tracking and realizing VAT refund claims, while also documenting calculations and estimations for refund claims.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in taxation management roles, with a focus on VAT preparation.
- Good understanding of Finance functions and processes.
- Strong understanding of VAT taxation laws and regulations in the UAE.
- Good understanding of record to report function is preferable.
- Experience working in a finance shared services is preferred.
