Weekend Bookseller

 

Description:

Kutubna Cultural Center, set to open in summer 2023 in Nadd Al Hamar, is looking to hire a part-time bookseller to work on weekends. We are looking for a book lover who is passionate about reading and excited to be part of the everyday work of the cultural center and bookstore.

 

The Center aims to celebrate the work of local and regional writers and poets and promote reading among people of all ages, support writers with workshops and book launches, and offer events celebrating different cultures in the UAE. The bookshop will have a specially curated selection of Arabic and English books showcasing the work of Emirati, Khaleeji, Arab, Middle Eastern, and Muslim authors.

 

Job Duties

 

· Order, receive, and shelve books

· Keep track of inventory on Shopify

· Customer service, including recommending books to customers

· Man the cash register

· Open and close the cultural center

· Supervise volunteers

· Write social media content

· Other duties as needed

 

Requirements

 

· Strong Arabic and English language skills

· Highly organized person able to pay attention to detail

· Demonstrated interest in books and knowledge of Arabic literature

· Familiarity with social media platforms

· Experience using Shopify or ability to learn how to use it
