Description:
This position will provide leadership and resources to the Education Department in the areas of education and conservation. This includes but is not limited to guest tours and programs, interactives and graphics, and curriculum development (onsite and outreach programs).
In order to continue to achieve goals that fulfill the SeaWorld Yas Island Abu Dhabi’s mission, the manager develops a strong environmental message to continue the conservation work undertaken by the park.
Manages labor and expense budgets. Develops a high caliber of motivated, knowledgeable, and skillful environmental educators with 21st Century learning methods.
Job Scope:
- Manages assigned education programs. Includes developing transformational, culturally appropriate, and accurate zoological programming.
- Ensures offerings are relevant and compelling to today’s audiences in content and delivery. In collaboration with Marketing and Communications, helps promote and sell education programs.
- Manages interpretation of animals and ecosystems to guests in park. This includes development of messaging, presentations, interpretative graphics, and other methods to increase guest awareness of animals and environmental conservation.
- Manages in-park revenue experiences. This includes streamlining operations, providing incredible guest service, and innovating new experiences based on customer demand.
- Collaborates with partners such as Sales, Marketing and other sections of Zoological Department in promoting and selling revenue-generating zoological programs.
- Manages and develops diverse colleagues to improve their capabilities and expertise.
- Develops and manages revenue and expense budgets.
- Responsible for budget management including operating expense, labor expense, and revenue.
- Assists in the marketing and sales of all educational programs.
- Responsible for high-volume guest interaction, including resolution of issues that may arise.
- Fosters a culture of human and animal safety. Ensures compliance with existing safety policies while encouraging the review and renewal, or provision of new policies and practices to ensure colleagues a safe working environment.
- Monitors key results and financial performance for assigned areas.
- Contributes to formulating and administering policies as needed.
- Ensures in delivering high-quality guest experience programs
- Works in varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; weekends, and holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
